As Andrea J determined, this is an eyelash viper, Bothriechis schlegelii. It’s difficult to pick up an ecotourism brochure in Costa Rica and not see a picture of the yellow variety of this species.

Oh, and don’t worry, I kept a respectful distance. This encounter reminded me why I always carry around a teleconverter.

I hope you’ll include lens/lighting/settings details in the upcoming post. I’ve never been happy with how the lighting has turned out on my attempts at venomous snakes.
Sure, I’ll try to include photo details. I just wish that wasn’t such a tedious job. If only I could automate that somehow.
I do make sure the basic info is preserved in the EXIF for the uploaded images. You can generally just look at any of my posted images with an EXIF viewer if you’re ever curious. It won’t tell you about technique, but you can always just ask about that.
