Crypsis Challenge #10

Can you find the critter hidden on this tree trunk? Even after you find it, I bet you’d be surprised that its overall length spans more than half the height of this image!

  1. Patrick Coin says:

A katydid(?) up high, just left of center. Tough one.

  2. Comment1 says:

I thought I saw a harvestman up there, but I’ve been looking at those just recently so maybe I’m playing tricks on myself. Now it looks like a cricket or something with long cerci and incredibly long antennae held together.

  3. Jason says:

    Long-jawed orb weaver? Facing down.

  4. Yeah, I thought it was a harvestman at first, also. I see a longhorned grasshopper, or katydid, with long cerci and even longer antennae. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one with this type of coloration.

  5. I see a big lizard. Its head touches the top of the frame and his tail runs along the left edge of the tree towards the bottom. If I am correct, I must say that that is some phenomenal camouflage.

  6. never mind. I just took another look, and I see the katydid/ grasshopper, not a lizard.
